17th CENTURY BELL

SACRED MUSIC

This section of the exhibition leads us to the exploration of sound within a sacred atmosphere – the chanting of monks, the spread of sacred songs, the learning and the writing of music through the centuries. The bells adopted by Christianity served not only the purpose of calling the faithful, but also for the purification and protection of the temple of God.

The main instrument selected for Christian worship was the organ. The exhibition will be demonstrating the migration of instruments and the movement of instrument builders that was taking place through the years in order to furnish these places of worship with their instruments.
